Taxis of NYC to offer completely transparent roof panels for better travel experience

Late 2013 Nissan NV200 is becoming the exclusive taxi of New York city. Named the Taxi of Tomorrow, it has been designed with the passenger in mind. Safety and comfort are the keywords here. And keeping up with time.

As one feature the Taxi of Tomorrow has completely transparent roof panels, so that you could enjoy the unique New York City view. But that's just one feature that will help make your traveling experience as enjoyable as possible. Especially considering there are 600 000 people who take a taxi in New York City every single day.

Thinking of them, the NV200 has also been created with keeping the visually impaired as well as people in wheelchairs in mind. We all want to travel and we all need to get from place to place. For people in wheelchairs, special models of Taxi of Tomorrow have been built with rear access ramp. Sign impaired people will be offered access to braille writing that gives them the driver's name. Hearing impaired people have also been thought about, they now have access to hearing loop system.

Nissan is also researching the potential usage of 100% electric vehicles as taxis as part of the Taxi of Tomorrow program. They are giving away six 100-percent electric Nissan LEAFs and three Level 2 charging stations totally free to taxi owners and New York City for testing purposes.
